The Wood Fossil Park in Akal tour with Badabagh

The Wood Fossil Park in Akal village is a barren and rocky terrain 17km from Jaisalmer. There are a total of 25 horizontally oriented tree trunks of 180 million years ago, along with fossils of some flying dinosaurs were found in the near Thaiyat area. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) declared the site a National Geological Monument in 1972 and currently the park is maintained by the authorities of the Desert National Park.
Rising from the top of a small hill just 6km north of Jaisalmer is the garden of royal cenotaphs starting with Jai Singh II, the founder of the state and Maharaja of Jaisalmer State. He commissioned a dam to be built to create a water tank during his reign in the 16th century, making the desert green in that area.
